Verified dating: you always know you're talking to someone real.
Two things happen before anyone appears on One to One. A person approves you, then we verify you with government ID and a live selfie. Here's exactly how, and what happens to your information.
Approved and verified are two different things
Most apps blur them together. We keep them apart because they answer different questions.
Approved means a person reviewed you. Verified means a document proved you. You need both to become a member, and both happen before your profile exists.
First, we approve you
Every application is reviewed by a person. Not a filter, not an algorithm deciding whether you're attractive enough. A check that you're here for the same reason everyone else is.
We review each application for completeness and intent, not appearance. Membership can be declined. That's what makes it membership.
Then, we verify you
Government ID and a live selfie, matched against each other. It takes under five minutes and it's handled by our specialist verification partner.
- Your invitation opens. Once the ratio in your city allows it, you get a short application. A person reviews it.
- You scan a government ID. A passport, driver's license or national ID.
- You take a live selfie. It's matched against the photo on your document.
- The result comes back. Verified, and your profile can be built. Nobody sees you before this point.
There is no way onto One to One without it, and no way to buy your way around it.
What we keep, and what we never keep
We keep
- That your verification passed
- A reference from our verification partner
- That you're over 18
- The date
We never keep
- Your ID images
- Your document number
- Your biometric data
Other members see
That you're verified. Nothing else. Not your legal name, not your document, not where you live exactly.
Your ID goes to our verification partner, not to us. No member ever sees any of it. The full detail is in our privacy notice.
Verification is never for sale
On some apps, a verified badge is something a few members have and others don't, or something you pay for. On One to One, verification is a condition of membership. Every member has it. Nobody can buy it, skip it, or pay to look more real than anyone else.
That's the line between a verified membership and a blue tick. Money will buy access and convenience. It will never buy trust.
No catfish. No bots. No "is this even real?"
What verification tells you, and what it doesn't
Verification tells you the person you're talking to is a real adult and the person in the photographs. Every time, without you having to work it out.
It doesn't tell you everything about someone, and it isn't a background check. Good judgement still matters, especially when you meet in person. Our safety center covers the practical side, and our community standards cover what happens when someone breaks the rules.
Some people just align.
